Regine Velasquez-Alcasid has put to rest persistent rumors that she will be moving to ABS-CBN soon.
On her Instagram account, Regine posted a message to a devoted fan who expressed her support to Regine no matter what move she makes in her career.
After thanking her avid fan, Regine flatly denied that she will transfer from GMA Network to ABS-CBN. In fact, the “Sarap Diva” host said that she will be renewing her contract with the Kapuso network for another 2 years.
A lot of fans have been speculating about this issue for some time now. When “Sunday PinaSaya” replaced “Sunday All Stars” last August, the rumor mill began churning. Regine said she was offered to be one of the mainstays of “Sunday PinaSaya”, but she declined the offer.
She said she does not want to be the only one among the talents of the axed program to be part of APT Entertainment’s “Sunday Pinasaya”. But, she admitted that she got excited at the prospect of working with the lineup of talents of the new noontime comedy program.
Despite Regine’s valid and ethical reason, a lot of people started to inject the rivalry of ABS-CBN and GMA Network into the equation.
The rumored transfer of Regine to the Kapamilya station heightened when fans noticed that she wasn’t included in the Christmas Station ID of GMA Network. Again, Regine explained her side. She said in a press conference for her concert “Regine at the Theater”, it was only a matter of conflict in scheduling, that’s why she wasn’t able to join the taping for the video.
Concerned fans remain unconvinced and kept posting questions on social media on whether or not Regine will remain a Kapuso artist.
But now that she had assured her supporters about her status as a GMA Network artist, this issue should finally have closure. Anyway, does it really matter? As the country’s premier diva, she deserves love and respect whatever path she decides to take. She will and always will be, The Asia’s Songbird, right?
