Piolo Pascual is bound for New York to join ABS-CBN President and CEO Charo Santos-Concio who was chosen to serve as Gala Chair for the 43rd International Emmy Awards which will be held on November 23, 2015.
Nope, Piolo Pascual will not go there solely to accompany Ms. Santos-Concio. He was picked by the prestigious award-giving body to be one of its presenters for the awards night this coming Monday.
He will join the likes of Michael Douglas, who is tasked to present the International Emmy Directorate Award to HBO Chairman and CEO, Richard Plepler; and other big stars like Elizabeth McGovern of “Downtown Abbey”, Karla Mosley of “The Bold and The Beautiful”, and Tovah Feldshuh of “The Walking Dead”.
Piolo is honored and “really overwhelmed” with the whole thing. In an interview with Ginger Conejero of TV Patrol, Piolo said, “It’s something new for me and I’m just really excited to be there and represent the country, and be with Tita Charo. I’m really excited , you know, because we’re carrying the flag of the Philippines.”
The multi-awarded Kapamilya star is also very proud about Ms. Santos-Concio’s distinguished role in the International Emmy Awards. He believes that it is a feat which signifies that “we have what it takes to conquer the global scene”. He added that “to accompany her and to present” is a big honor , “hindi lang para sa atin or even sa ABS -CBN, but for the Philippines.” (not only for us or even for ABS-CBN, but for the Philippines)
The International Emmy Awards is attended yearly by 1000 entertainment decision-makers coming from all over the globe. Ms. Santos-Concio will give the opening address to this group of luminaries who will be gathered to recognize programming excellence in 10 program categories and confer Special Awards to Julian Fellowes (Founders Award) and Richard Plepler. The awards ceremony will be hosted by Egyptian satirist Bassem Youssef.
