Paulo Avelino is happy that the producers of “Heneral Luna” will push through with filming another biopic, this time, about the life of Gregorio Del Pilar. He is elated that once again, he had been chosen to portray the role of the young hero.
It will be recalled that Paulo played as del Pilar in the much-acclaimed historical epic, “Heneral Luna”. Though he was only showed briefly in a few scenes, his performance and screen presence did not go unnoticed.
The producers of “Heneral Luna” are glad that they are finally pushing through with the film about del Pilar. They said that they do not have a definite title yet for the film nor its date of release because it is still under development.
Gregorio del Pilar, also known as the hero of Tirad Pass, was one of the youngest generals during the Philippine Revolution. He was only 20 when he joined the revolution against Spain and was only 23 when he became a Brigadier General. Thus, he was often referred to as “Boy General”.
For Paulo Avelino, the role will be a very challenging one, but he is happy about getting the role. He said, “I’m very excited. We’re doing proper research now and they’re really preparing for it.”
It should be recalled that “Heneral Luna” is the result of meticulous research done by the makers of the film. Its authenticity is one of the things that was appreciated by the public.
The same attention to details is being done by the producers for Gregorio del Pilar and Filipinos can expect another quality film that they can be proud of.
Paulo hopes that the Gregorio del Pilar biopic will be as successful as “Heneral Luna” and will get the same support from the viewing public.
The filming of del Pilar will not start any day soon, but that is no cause for worry for an actor who is as good as Paulo Avelino.
The Gawad Urian awardee said that he has a new tv series in the works for his home network, ABS-CBN. He also revealed that he will have a movie slated for release next year, wherein he stars with Maja Salvador and Anne Curtis.
