First it was Ashton Kutcher, now it’s Nicki Minaj who’s heaping praises on Darren Espanto.
In a recent post on her Facebook page, Nicki Minaj shared the article about Darren titled “14-Year-Old Boy Performs Sia’s ‘Chandelier’ Live, And It’s Unbelievable” which appeared on aplus.com. With the photo, Nicki added this message: “So effortless. Incredible voice!”
Nicki’s compliment about Darren’s voice carries a lot of weight. She is one of the world’s hottest performers and bestselling artists. Being noticed by her should make one happy, but to be praised by one of the best hip-hop artists in the world? That would call for a celebration!
We wonder how Darren is taking all of this in his system? He is definitely making waves in the international scene with all this attention. His video for the cover version of ‘Chandelier’ has garnered more than 5.38 million views on You Tube and is still increasing by the hour.
Aside from this, Darren is also slaying it in the local music scene. His self-titled album got two awards from the recently concluded Star Awards for Music 2015. The album “Darren” won as Pop Album of the Year and for Album Cover Concept and Design of the Year.
His popularity among netizens propelled him to emerge as the second biggest winner at the Push Awards, too. He got a total of four awards including, PushLike Most Liked Newcomer, PushTweet Favorite Newcomer, PushGram Most Love Newcomer and Awesome Song Cover Performance.
Darren’s talent has a long way to go. He is just 14 and yet he is busier than more accomplished performers in the industry. He has a lot of guestings on ABS-CBN shows and invitations for major events just about anywhere in the country.
Wherever he performs, Darren gains more followers and fans, who cannot help but admire his voice.
With Darren’s vocal talent, we believe Nicki Minaj would certainly not be the last international celebrity who will notice him. Only question is, after Ashton Kutcher and Nicki Minaj, hmmm, who’s next?
