November 11, 2015 could be the date that Alma Moreno can never forget. On that day, she appeared on Karen Davila’s show “Headstart” on ANC as a senatorial candidate.
Veteran anchorwomen Karen Davila has no qualms in throwing in tough questions to former sexy actress and now Parańaque councilor Alma Moreno. This supposed to be a usual interview of Karen Davila on politicians turned out to be awkward for Alma Moreno.
Karen Davila interview with Alma Moreno turned viral and still a trending topic on social media. Netizens quickly felt the awkwardness that Alma Moreno is suffering under the hands of Karen Davila during the straight forward interview session.
Reactions from netizens varies with some admiring the journalistic efforts of Karen Davila to squeeze out some juices from political candidates by asking pertinent questions, however other people are questioning Karen Davila’s way of ‘grilling’ Alma Moreno wherein the former sexy actress was instantly caught off guard.
On a Karen Davila’s post of an image of her and Alma Moreno together on the interview, an Instagram user commented to Alma’s defense which the ANC anchorwoman remarked by clarifying the issue by saying that at some point she tried to make it easier for Alma Moreno by giving out Tagalog translations of the questions even if the show’s format is in English.
Karen Davila posted this statement- “NO, interview questions are never given to an interviewee. I research a lot & try and come as prepared as I can every single day. If you watched the interview in full, you will see that I shifted to Tagalog, during many times – I tried to help her. My previous interviews were much tougher – with Sen Bongbong Marcos for example or MIAA GM Anghel Honrado.”

ANC “Headstart” program host even stated “When someone is running for higher office – they must have an understanding of issues. This is a standard we owe to the Filipino people. You will choose in the end. My job is to ask the hard questions. Salamat Maam ”
Karen Davila also added, “Please note – I didn’t ask Ms Alma Moreno about the West Phil Sea issue, but moved to RH Law because she said her advocacy is on ‘women.’ I took on from there – her thoughts on RH Law which is a landmark law crafted for women.”
It would be justified that Karen Davila has reasons to grill Alma Moreno and this is her usual style of conducting interview. Her objective is to expose a candidate’s knowledge of important national issues facing our country to the public, so that people will be properly informed.
