November 26, 2015 (AL KHOBAR, K.S.A.) – Filipinos in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) are bound to experience a double dose of laughter and music at the The Filipino Channel (TFC) Hour “Kantawanan sa Al Khobar 2015” of the most anticipated and longest-running Filipino event in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia this year, Pinas-SAHI (Saudi Arabia Hiligaynon) International Association Inc.’s 21st Filipino Community Day, happening on December 4, Friday at the Al Shola Beach Resort.
During the “Kantawanan sa Al Khobar 2015,” of the 21st Filipino Community Day, Tourism and Trade Exhibit, kabayans in KSA will be treated to two times’ the entertainment that will not just make them sing along with the iconic and soulful music of the ‘Concert King’ Martin Nievera but will also make them roar with the comic antics and witty one-liners of “Your Face Sounds Familiar” season 2 contestant Eric Nicolas.
Since 1994, Pinas-SAHI has been staging the Filipino Community Day to sustain the ties of Filipinos in the region who are from the Western Visayas region and propagate the Philippine culture in KSA. An average of 15,000 Filipinos fill the event each year.
In 2005, SAHI have been joining forces with TFC to stage the TFC Hour now called “Kantawanan sa Al Khobar” to bring live performances that showcase the unique Pinoy culture through talent and with spotlight on the ‘galing ng Filipino’ (greatness of the Filipino).
ABS-CBN Managing Director for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Kai Rodriguez says Pinas – SAHI’s theme this year, “Dakilang OFWs: Kabalikat ng Bayan sa Pag-unlad ng Turismo at Produktong Pilipino” runs parallel with one of TFC’s goals to help Filipinos connect not only with family but also with their fellowmen and together, help build the Filipino community and culture wherever they are in the world.
Rodriguez says, “This year’s Filipino Community Day’s TFC Hour is not just a tradition continued but a way for TFC to show that while we have diversities in our roots, we all can commune with the rest of the Filipino community in the spirit of camaraderie and service.”
Rodriguez ends, “Pinas-SAHI and TFC have been staging ‘Kantawanan’ events for a decade now and while we have a singular goal and a commitment to service each time, this year will be different as we bring a new twist. With a different set of artists and a new venue, the tradition takes on yet another form –
all with the same vibrant community and level of entertainment.”
The TFC Hour will be livestreamed at www.emea.kapamilya.com for kabayans in other parts of the Middle East and even Europe to enjoy.
