GMA Network’s Christmas Station ID (CSID) has been released on November 12th but talks on why some major GMA Network stars are missing on the CSID, are still circulating, especially on social media.
Reasons of those who are not included in the CSID are subject to speculation and intrigue, especially in the light of persistent rumors that there is a female star who wish to jump ship from GMA Network.
Viewers have noted the absence of Regine Velasquez, Jennylyn Mercado, Rhian Ramos, and Eugene “Uge” Domingo.
In a recent press conference for her concert, Regine Velasquez said that she was not in GMA Network’s CSID because of her busy schedule. The taping for the video simply had a conflict with the schedule of her other projects. She also hinted that Jennylyn Mercado is a workaholic whose reason for her absence in the CSID may be the same as hers. Regine says that a lot of them have other projects and may not have been available for the scheduled taping for the CSID.
One star we really missed out on is Eugene “Uge” Domingo. Was she also busy like the rest, that’s why she is not in GMA’s CSID?
Uge is currently the main host of “Celebrity Bluff”, a game show which recently celebrated its 3nd year on air, since it launched on November 17, 2012. She has been with GMA Network since 2008 and has starred in a lot of GMA Films and in several shows such as teleseryes, game shows, and variety shows of GMA.
Thus, not to be seen in GMA Network’s 2015 CSID left many of her fans wondering why she’s not there. PhilStar stated that Eugene Domingo does not consider herself a GMA Network talent, that’s why she is not in the CSID.
Could that be true? Uge hasn’t issued an official statement yet but yes, she had a lot of films and projects outside of GMA Network. She had even made films for Star Cinema like “Here Comes The Bride”, “Petrang Kabayo” and “Tuhog”. She has done a lot of movies with other film outfits like Regal Films, Viva, Octoarts, and others. In 2010, Uge had a show with TV 5 (ABC) titled “Inday Wanda”.
Judging from her projects alone, it seems Uge is not really an “exclusive” artist of GMA Network. So, is this why she’s not on GMA’s CSID?
We noticed that during the time of tapings for the CSID, Eugene was in Japan for the 28th Tokyo International Film Festival which ran from October 22 to 31. It’s not clear how long she stayed there, but she was part of the Filipino delegates in the filmfest which featured the films of Brillante Mendoza. Uge starred with Cherry Pie Picache in Mendoza’s 2007 film “Foster Child”, a drama focusing on the state of foster care in the Philippines.
So, it’s very possible, that Eugene can be just as busy as the rest of the missing stars on the GMA CSID. As to her main reason for absence on the CSID, we can all just venture a guess for as long as Uge has not issued an official statement on the matter.
