Darren Espanto’s live performance of Sia’s ‘Chandelier’ caught the eye of Hollywood actor and investor Ashton Kutcher, according to an Instagram post by astroplus1. The actor said he was “blown away” by Darren’s performance and shared an article about Darren which was featured on the website aplus.com, which he co-founded along with two others.
Of course the Darrenatics were so happy with the news that Kutcher was impressed by Darren. They have been all been saying ever since Darren won as runner-up on The Voice Kids Philippines, that Darren’s talent is world-class.
The ‘Chandelier’ cover version by Darren was uploaded on YouTube on August 11, 2015 and had gone viral since then. The video now has 5.180 million hits and counting. In it, Darren is seen singing inside a mobile FM radio booth bus of Wish 107.5. He was featured on the radio station’s anniversary.
The video got almost 6000 comments, not only from Filipino fans but from foreigners, who expressed their admiration of his vocal prowess.
Although Kutcher’s original Facebook post with the simple message “I’m blown away” cannot be accessed now on Facebook, astroplus1 was able to screen capture it. The article that Kutcher shared is titled ’14-Year-Old Boy Performs Sia’s ‘Chandelier’ Live, And It’s Unbelievable” was published on aplus.com.
The article on aplus.com should be more of a cause for celebration for Darren’s fans. Why? A Plus (aplus.com) is one of the world’s top websites in the world, with a current Alexa global ranking of 3,863 and 1,382 in the US. Chaired by Ashton Kutcher himself, the site is visited by 25 to 30 million unique visitors monthly. According to Quantcast, it is one of the top 50 sites in the United States.
So there, can you imagine how much mileage Darren Espanto got with that article about him? Don’t be surprised if someday, foreign recording companies comes a-knocking on Darren’s door.
