Early Tuesday morning of November 3, 2015, Twitter account of Maine Mendoza was hacked by the hacktivist group called “Anonymous Philippines”. The group posted details about the “Million Mask March 2015” that aims to protest against the Government Corruption which took place last November 5, 2015.
They also apologized to the followers of the Dubsmash Queen and claim that they will return the Twitter account to her.
Later that day, a statement is posted on their Facebook page in regards to the hacking of Mendoza’s Account.
They question AlDub fans why they are more concern about the loveteam than the issues concerning the Philippine Government. They claim that people are more hooked to AlDub than improving Philippines’ own Development.
They also said that they reached to Maine Mendoza’s Twitter account to get mass attention, which they believe is the easiest way to get noticed.
Few minutes after, they posted a formal press release regarding the issue that means exactly same from the previous post. They said that they do not have any bad intentions nor personal issues against Maine Mendoza. They just wanted to send a message to the public and make them aware about what needs to be done for our country.
We can recall that last 2012, Anonymous Philippines hacked several Government websites to protest against the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
In less than 24 hours, Maine Mendoza was able to gain back the access for her Twitter account. It was reported that Twitter Management put a very strong security in her account to avoid hacking circumstances again.
Maine Mendoza is the second personality to have this kind of special treatment from Twitter after Justin Bieber.
