Last September 17, 2015 “ASAP 20” got the lowest TV rating for Sunday’s noon time show between ABS-CBN and GMA Network while “Sunday Pinasaya” of Ai-Ai delas Alas, Marian Rivera and Alden Richards got the highest rating of 17.2% compared with “ASAP 20” and “Wowowin” with 17.1% based on Kantar Media.
In the article of Julie Bonifacio oon Pep.ph Piolo says that “It can be a wake-up call, “ASAP 20” has been on-air for 20 years; being on top of the ratings can be seasonal. It’s hard to remain on top and there are no competitors that cannot beat your network.”
For Piolo, competition is always healthy because it makes you want to be better at what you do, as actors and actress they are just performing according to their bosses’ decision. Apparently, he does not belong to the team where pressure is inevitable to feel and handle.
In relation to the newest skit of “ASAP 20” where it involves comedy and other games, PEP was able to ask for Piolo’s opinion about it and the 38-year old hunk actor stated that “It’s hard to talk because I am part of the show, it’s something you need to do to make your audiences to stay and keep on watching your show.”
Due to the TV rating released by Kantar Media last September 17, 2015, the hunk actor said that “Just like “Eat Bulaga”, it has been reigning for thirty years and “ASAP 20” is now on its 20th year, so probably our show can make it on its 30th year. Even “Eat Bulaga” they have experienced to lose in the competition of TV Ratings; life is indeed like wheel of a car.”
Piolo has something good to share for the two main networks in the Philippines: “Our world is just a small place and we don’t need to dwell on the things that will make the iron hot!”
Thus, Piolo concluded “I’m happy that the other show is giving us competition, which only means we have to step up, we have to be better than what we do now.”
