(UPDATED) The upcoming 2016 elections is now tainted with so many controversies from news of corrupt politicians to outlandish campaign tactics. This only goes to show that politics in our country is very much alive and people are truly engaged to every bits and pieces concerning this issue.
One report that just recently surfaced is the story that the administration candidate for presidency Mar Roxas is planning on hiring the two celebrities behind AlDub. Realizing how powerful the split-screen loveteam is One report that just recently surfaced is, he will get Maine Mendoza aka Yaya Dub and Alden Richards to endorse his campaign for president in 2016.
Subsequently, the Kalyeserye lovers Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards turned down the 100 million peso endorsement offer of Mar Roxas as reported by an entertainment columnist from Bulgar. The reason behind AlDub’s rejection to Mar Roxas 100 million offer in exchange of endorsement is the fact that their management strictly imposed that AlDub should never be involved in any campaign or endorsement of politicians.
It is also rumored that another presidential candidate and current vice president Jejomar Binay offered a hefty sum in a 9-digit peso fee for Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza for his endorsement.
Tito Sotto revealed that there are 2 presidential candidates who offered a large sum of money for AlDub’s endorsement. At this point Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza cannot accept any type of politically connected campaigns as per directive of their management.
UPDATE: In a recent interview Alden Richards denies the allegation that he is being offered a 100 M endorsement project for any political campaign. He stated “Hindi po totoo yun. Wala pong lumapit to offer that much money.” (Translation- This is not true. Nobody made such offer with that much money.”)
Asked if he is allowed to endorse any politician he answer by saying “Ako po, personally, I really don’t want to endorse po. Kasi, kumbaga, let them be. Iba po ‘tong showbiz sa politics. I don’t wanna mix it po.” (Translation- On my part personally, I really don’t want to make endorsement, just let them be. Showbiz is different from politics and I don’t want to interchange things.”)
