It was shown in the amateur video that John was so drunk. He threw a lot of curses to Ryan Bautista, the complainant and the one who recorded the “Apacible drunk-driving” video.
According to Ryan Bautista, he saw John Apacible mugging a delivery van driver. As a concerned citizen, he couldn’t help but do something about what he was seeing on the road. He was in his car and decided to honk to get John Apacible’s attention.

Then, there it all started. John Apacible being so drunk just couldn’t hold a straight, sane conversation. He kept on repeating himself, just cursing. In the video Bautista shared, one can see how the drunk John Apacible used a political-side of him to try to get away with his arguments. He proudly showed to Ryan Bautista, his protocol plate with the word “Councilor” on it.
John Apacible kept on blabbing and pointing to his precious protocol plate. But the complainant just didn’t care about him and kept reminding the policemen instead to do their job well; to not allow John Apacible to drive because he was obviously drunk.
Ryan Bautista thought John Apacible would actually get away and escape his misbehavior that night because he felt like the QC policemen weren’t doing anything to the drunk John Apacible who had been causing traffic at the Timog area.
The viral video was posted by Top Gear on Facebook. And because he’s carrying the name of Ateneo, he will face some consequences from his alma mater itself. Apacible will not be allowed to practice with the Blue Eagle basketball team.
Some people think that the punishment is too shallow for Apacible. They want greater, harsher disciplinary actions for Apacible.
Update:
John Apacible has issued a letter of apology on October 20 regarding his drunk-video incident. He is asking forgiveness for his misbehavior and said he is ashamed of what he did. Apacible said he only thought of himself and forgot his responsibilities; and that he is ready to face the consequences arising from his irresponsible behavior.
