With sympathy all over the country and Filipinos all-over the world poured for the heartbreaking loss of “Gilas Pilipinas” on the October 3, 2015 match against the FIBA Asia Finals host country, China. Just like a normal basketball fan, celebrities are seen to give their salute and genuine support for the country’s basketball team representatives through their social media accounts.
In an Instagram post of actress Danica Sotto-Pingris, she has expressed her appreciation of the opportunity given to the “Gilas Pilipinas” team to play on the international court scene, in which her basketball player husband is included. She posted “Salamat (Thank You) Gilas Pilipinas! #labangtapat Thank you Lord for keeping them safe and thank you for the opportunity! #puso #labanpilipinas”.
With another post coming from the wife of the basketball player JC Intal which is also drafted for the national team, actress Bianca Gonzales-Intal became emotional on how she expressed her heartfelt support and happiness for his husband and the team on winning Silver medal. On her post “From the day you got the call for Gilas to this point that you boys have a silver medal, God has been so good!!!! We can’t be any prouder. Time for you boys to come home. #LabanPilipinas #PUSO.” It also showed a photo of a token that was given to each of the team members after winning.
Some celebrities and personalities from the GMA Network are also seen to recognize the momentous contribution of the national team for the sports.
