Baskin-Robbins was founded by two ice cream enthusiasts who happen to be brothers-in-law in real life, who both shared a dream; to create an innovative ice cream shop that will also serve as a gathering place for families.
It is now the world’s most beloved ice cream brand and it now marks its first anniversary in the Philippines as well as the 70th year in California. Due to these major events of Baskin-Robbins they have launched the “BR 31 Smiles Project”, a campaign that will help the children with cleft lip to have reconstructive surgery for free in partnership with renowned charitable foundation the Operation Smile.
Baskin-Robbins has decided to bring up this special project to bring back the smiles of the children with cleft lip and cleft palate; some of them are victim of bullies. One of the beneficiaries of the cleft lip surgery is Wivina “Vina” Marie Maninang, a 5-year old girl who experienced rejection and bullies in her community. This little girl has undergone free reconstructive surgery at Sta. Ana Hospital in Manila, funded by Baskin-Robbins.
Vina’s mother shared the goodness after the surgery, “I have seen the difference in her after her surgery, before she used to cry almost every day but since she is now okay with the help of Baskin-Robbins, Vina is braver and happier now.”
This is one of their ways to express gratitude for loyal customers and supporters for a year in Philippines; “BR 31 Smiles Project” symbolizes the 31 flavors of ice cream, the project scheme for the financial need by the Baskin-Robbins was raised through several promotions at the store as well as at special selling events.
