Angel Locsin renewed her contracts with ABS-CBN and Star Cinema today, October 29, just a few days after a press conference wherein she revealed her back injury.
The big bosses of the Kapamilya network were present at the signing, ending speculations that Angel will stop being a Kapamilya or worse, quit her showbiz career.
Angel instantly posted the event on her Instagram account and captioned it with a simple, “Thank you ABS-CBN management for the trust.”
Just three days ago, ABS-CBN made an official announcement together with Angel, indicating their mutual agreement that Angel cannot play the role of Darna anymore due to her spinal bulge.
The disc bulge prevented Angel from doing stunts and other action scenes required for the scenes of Darna.
Angel expressed her disappointment since she had been training for Darna for the past two years. But she knows she has to prioritize her health, above all else, and so did ABS-CBN.
Though she is no longer playing the role of Darna, it’s not the end of the road for Angel.
While she is still undergoing therapy and treatment for her spinal injury, she will finish shooting her movie with Vilma Santos and Xian Lim. The movie is set to be shown early 2016.
Angel will play the role of a caregiver to an ailing businesswoman, played by Vilma Santos. Xian takes the role of Vilma’s son in what Director Joyce Bernal describes as a light drama.
We are hearing rumors that Angel Locsin will be having a television series and a movie with Coco Martin slated for next year. But as of this moment, we have not verified these.
A lot of her fans are relieved with today’s contract renewal of Angel with ABS-CBN. But, a lot of them are also pleading to the network to give Angel more time to recover from her injury. They are saying they cannot imagine Darna being played by another actress. For her fans, only Angel can do justice to the role.
