In the music industry, a singer should have a distinct character to stand out. His work should be catchy and easy to remember, so people will listen. That person should have a musical background so people will be interested.
When you hear the name Ryan Christopher, what comes to your mind? You may have a vague memory of him, but if you remember a half-naked man at the Cosmo Carnival, you are not mistaken. Aside from his good looks and hot body, Ryan is a talented singer. His record label Ivory Music and Video show this. He is the Country’s Acoustic Prince.
“I never imagined that I’ll be in this position this quick,” Ryan said during his album launch last September 16, 2015. In a span of two years since he came back from the USA, he successfully released his self-titled debut record with lead single “Mr. Sun”. He also performed at ‘Threenity Birthday Blast’ which is the biggest ‘One Direction’ fandom event.
Going back to the Philippines is like a reality check for him. When he was in the States, he thought going back to the Philippines is a straight shot. He used to write music for a living so he thought if he made it in the States, it is much easier in the Philippines. “The reality is, just like any other industry, there’s so many talented people, and it’s really hard to make you stand out,” said Ryan.
“I used to be trained to write on the spot. I can write a song probably within 2-3 hours, but there is no soul. For me, the world needs to be hand in hand with music itself. It is a lot more easier for me cutting phases different type of music and just put instrumental in it. It should come from the heart,” he added.
For a singer-songwriter who had just entered the music scene a few months back, Ryan already has a lot under his belt to be proud of. And given all that he could offer to OPM, it looks like Ryan has a long and lasting musical journey ahead. Infact, by the end of September, his album will be released in South Korea.
Ryan Christopher album consist of 6 original tracks plus a cover. It is now available in major record stores, and also in digital format on iTunes, Spotify, Guevara, Deezer, Rdio, Amazon Music and Spinnr.ph.
