“The time when we pitched “Celebrity Playtime” (CP) to management, there’s no “Sunday Pinasaya” yet ,” said Lui Andrada, ABS-CBN Business Unit Head, during the press conference of the new game show on September 23, 2015.
According to PEP report, Andrada explained how CP was created.
“When we brainstormed for this program, it was the peak of Your Face Sounds Familiar (YFSF)Season One and then we realized, ‘Oh, [look how intact the] bonding of this group (referring to YFSF contenders).’
“Then we realized, ‘Why don’t we think of a program that we could come up with and also share to the audience the kind of bonding they have shared.
“‘Coz you know, in times like this when there are many trials, many issues, TV program gives something to the audience that makes them feel happy and let them forget about problems in their lives,” he said.
He also explained the rules of the game.
“This game, it’s road to three, meaning to say, three wins to be declared as depending champion and then another team will challenge you,” he continued.
On one its featured segments, each celebrity has to sing the song using animal sound. His/her teammates will then guess the title.
Critics said the talk and game show was quite similar to “Kanta Ririt” segment of its rival network where there are two teams, composed of celebrity guests. Each song the celebrity needs to sing in strange sound (ex. animal sound) his/her teammates are expected to guess the title. The team which gets the most number of correct answers will be the winner and get a trophy.

When “Celebrity Playtime” host Billy Crawford asked if he feels any pressure for the show, given the thought that other programs also have the same format as it is, he said that, “I, honestly, I just try to do the best I can as a host, I do not really think of any competition.
“Not being overconfident or anything, for me, I just want to concentrate on my part, at work and I do not know what’s being aired in other network,” he said.
“Celebrity Playtime” is set to air its pilot episode this Saturday, September 26.
