In one interview of Anne Curtis, she was asked what is her opinion or reaction about the tougher competition between “It’s Showtime,” were she is one of the hosts and “Eat Bulaga?”
Anne simply answered, “Yeah, it’s great! I think it only goes to show that people are still into noontime shows. So, I think it’s great!”
As we know, “Eat Bulaga” is now becoming a tougher rival of Showtime when they introduced a segment called “Kalyeserye” were it pulled the ratings between the two shows widely apart.
The “Kalyeserye” who has made the experimental loveteam #AlDub has skyrocketed its popularity when people got the hook of a live drama series, placed within a noontime show.
Casting the heartthrob Alden Richards as himself and the youtube dubsmash sensation, Maine Mendoza as Yaya Dub, in a Cinderella-like plot that has gotten alot of sympathizers and large following for both TV viewers and social media.
With “Eat Bulaga,” being the longest running noontime show, has been consistently solid to its fanbase and has shrugged-off whatever shows its rival network has placed in competition. Now that it has also introduced its own hit segment, it again has proven its domination on the noontime slot, with its ratings to visibly show the lead, consistently keeping the gap far, weeks-by-weeks.
Anne also added, she is also aware that when fans or audience of the two shows started discussed and express their opinions about the shows they followed, arguments and deeper competition between supporters cannot be avoided.
She only wishes a healthy competition and discourages spreading of negative messages and unruly discussion that results to bashing, that she clearly see happening within social media.
Although she knows that comparison and rivalry is inevitable, but on her words, “But I think everyone just needs to take a chill pill.”
“And, you know, everyone has their own time naman.
“They can tune in to wherever they wanna tune in.
“There doesn’t have to be any bashing.”
She concluded that all is fair as long as there is a healthy competition.
