Maine Mendoza wasn’t acting when she fainted on the set of “Eat Bulaga!” before she was to wed Frankie (Jose Manalo) on August 8, 2015.
At that climactic moment in the popular Kalyeserye episode, Yaya Dub lost consciousness and was rushed to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan, Metro Manila.
Alden Richards, who was watching the events at TAPE Studios in New Manila, Quezon City, suddenly left, supposedly to stop Yaya Dub from marrying Frankie. Fans were excited since it was the much-awaited chance for the two lovebirds to finally meet.
Fortunately, the wedding never took place. Yaya Dub is all right now and attributed her fainting spell to fatigue. She added that she forgot to take her medicine that day since she was busy preparing for that special episode.
Being a true professional, the actress still kept the Kalyeserye in mind and posted on Intragram, “Good news: The wedding was stopped. The bad news is fate still hasn’t brought us together.”
In the video uploaded by “Eat Bulaga!” on Facebook, Yaya Dub can be seen grasping the arm of Frankie tightly before she fainted. TV viewers thought it was an act, thanks to Frankie and Lola Nidora (Wally Bayola) who pretended it was part of the script.
On second viewing, you can clearly see that the producers and assistants all rushed to Yaya Dub’s aid.
Even when Yaya Dub was carried out on a stretcher, viewers thought it was still part of the show, especially since Alden left TAPE Studios to stop the wedding in classic soap opera style.
Hours later, Yaya Dub confirmed that she really fainted. Earlier, she tweeted that she wasn’t feeling well and wasn’t ready for the “big event.”
Now that Maine has recovered, fans of #AlDub can sit back, relax, and watch the next events in the Kalyeserye that has swept the nation.
