Controversial TV host/producer Willie Revillame admitted losing about P50 million in “Wowowin”, according to a Phistar report .
However, the 54-year-old GMA 7 talent said what’s important is that he continues to make people happy.
“It’s okay, it’s just money,” Willie said during a press conference on August 5, 2015. “Besides, I started in ‘Wowowee’ with no money at all. So, this is my way of repaying my supporters.”
There were rumors that the show was ending on July 26, 2015 due to financial problems. Sources said Willie also wasn’t happy with the show’s 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. time slot, the reason why he couldn’t tap more advertisers.
Luckily, Willie said that GMA 7’s First Vice President for Program Management Joey Abacan called him to resolve the issue as reported by PEP.ph.
“You won’t leave us. We don’t want you to leave. We don’t want to lose you. Let’s talk,” Willie quoted Abacan as saying.
The meeting ended happily since Willie was given a discounted blocktimer fee, “Wowowin” was moved to earlier time slot, and the show got an additional 15 minutes of airtime.
This Sunday, August 9, 2015, “Wowowin” will air from 2 – 3:15 p.m. Willie said he has reformatted some game segments and made the show even more exciting.
His one regret is that the show will be running against “ASAP20” which is helmed by his former director Johnny Manahan.
“I have great respect for him. He used to be my director. We spoke and he understood. I told him I was sorry but it’s the management’s decision'” Willie said.
The Wowowin host is still hoping that GMA 7 will allow the show to air daily to reach more people and bring joy to the masses.
