Quickly rising to fame after their hit movies Diary ng Panget, Talk Back and You’re Dead and Para sa Hopeless Romantic, the tandem of James Reid and Nadine Lustre (JaDine) will be taking greater heights as they enter the league of prized primetime talents in the Kapamilya network.
On Monday, August 10, 2015, JaDine will be first seen in a teleserye – and mind you, they were given a prime time slot already! The back-to-back combo with Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla starrer Pangako Sa’yo (PSY) is widely-anticipated by the fans of both love teams. According to sources, this will be the ultimate test on which of the two love teams will surely hit the roof, if pitted against each other.
Mind you, even GMA 7 bosses regretted they weren’t able to catch Reid and Lustre, who were initially Viva talents. JaDine could have been the Kapuso network’s own version of the Teen King & Queen KathNiel. Our source from GMA said: “Bongga talaga ang ABS-CBN pagdating sa teleserye nila, glossy at mamahalin. Promising ang JaDine.” (ABS-CBN always does a fine job in their teleseryes – glossy and classy. JaDine is so promising!”
Aside from the fact that it will be a head-on for KathNiel and JaDine on primetime, GMA execs are said to be a bit fearful with the back-to-back combination of PSY and On The Wings of Love (OTWoL).
“Kaloka, mag-back-to-back ang ‘Pangako Sa ‘Yo’ at ‘On The Wings of Love’? Eh, sino pa ang manonood sa amin (GMA), baka mag-color bars na lang kami.” (What’s even crazy is that PSY and OTWoL will be in their prime time, back-to-back. Who else would watch our (GMA) shows? Our ratings may suffer!” according to Reggee Bonoan article at Hataw.
As of the moment, ABS-CBN gets the lion’s share of audience. Ratings show that Nathaniel and PSY are the top-rated programs in the prime time block. Now that JaDine will join the league, will they be able to solidify the Kapamilya hold? Overall, ABS-CBN is eying to get 50% or more in the ratings game. Currently, Kapamilya is at 45%.
For GMA 7 though, they are expecting MariMar topbilled by former PBB housemates, Miss World 2013 Megan Young and Tom Rodriguez to win some audience in the prime time block. They are set to match KathNiel’s PSY in their time slot.
