No offense to other movie makers, but Derek Ramsay just stated a true fact that Star Cinema is the best when it comes to movie production. In the recent bloggers’ conference held in the Malayan Colleges Laguna, one of the lead stars Derek Ramsay, shared his opinion and experiences about his current experience with Star Cinema, along with co-star Coleen Garcia; and how would a certain group reacts on the movie, Ex with Benefits.
Ex with Benefit is Derek’s 10th film under Star Cinema. Working with Star Cinema proved enough how good the quality of the movies they produce and how well the filmmaker and directors build the characters.
According to Derek, “They are the best! I learn a lot from them and became a best actor. They entrusted me to brilliant directors and choose actors that fit perfectly for me. They are so perfectionist just like me, which is a good thing since I am perfectionist too. They have brilliant directors and best actors paired perfectly for me. That’s how Derek was born as an actor”.
Ask about his relationship, Derek said that the relationship never dies. He admits they had issues, but both parties have moved on. We should, too.
And talking about his working relationship with Coleen Garcia, he said, “She is actually the lightest of them all (laughs). It’s awesome! She’s really cool.
Billy Crawford is my friend, (referring to Coleen boyfriend). He brought food on the set. But I think, Collen became my friend too.
On the set, were just like a one big happy family. Coleen has a strong feature, at first I thought she’s “antipatika”, but she’s really down to earth and very cool. In general, the whole experience working with Coleen is great.”
They shared a lot of memories while doing the movie like the pimples Derek got because of Coleen’s hair extensions, how the “kutsinta” ends up with Derek while doing a love scene, and how did they manage to get Derek to dance in a club, which is actually the first time for Derek. You can feel the positive vibes on both stars.
When the trailer of Ex with Benefits come out, it gained a lot of negative reactions, especially from the Medical Representatives in the country. Derek is certain that the movie will change their reaction once they saw the actual film. As he said, before you assume anything, you should get as much information as you can. He also elaborated that they are not stereotyping the MedReps. They have respect of what they do.
This movie is very different from the past movies Derek did because it doesn’t contain love triangle issues, nor adultery or jealousy. It is all about two people in love which is kind of weird because they cannot be together. They are things in their life that pushes them apart. Definitely the movie will concentrate on the character of Adam and Arki.
Ex with Benefits is showing on September 2, 2015 in all cinemas nationwide, under the direction of Gino Santos.
