MARIMAR.
The second Pinoy adaptation of the widely-popular Thalia-starred Mexican drama of the same name, this also marks the fifth time that a Thalia-starrer is turned into a local soap opera.
There are some efforts to shake up its formula, judging the slight changes they’ve pulled off in the pilot episode, but some horrible choices in camera shots keep sending itself to becoming something hard to appreciate.
What makes this still palatable, though, are some unmissable powerful performances from the actors, but I should give the biggest point to Alice Dixon, who hasn’t just looked so beautiful here (even at her age!), but has also shown some commendable acting chops.
We’re yet to see the beautiful Megan Young, and the hunky hotness, that is Tom Rodriguez, on the next episodes though, but that should make us glued onto the show.
