She may have less projects now than when she first started in showbiz, but Angel Locsin says that’s because she values quality over quantity.
“Dati noong bata pa ako, mas habol ko yung quantity, ngayon quality talaga. Dati sunud-sunod nga teleserye ko pero parang hindi ko pa masyado naiintindihan ang ginagawa ko. Ang layo ng narating ng career ko pero sa personal na buhay ko parang naisip ko puro career na lang ginagawa ko. Natuto ako maghinay-hinay at mag-balance. (When I was younger, I was after quantity. Now, it’s quality. I’ve come a long way in acting, but there was a time when I couldn’t understand what I was doing. I’ve accomplished many things in my career, but my personal life suffered. I’ve learned to take it slow and wait for better roles to balance things),” she said.
Her movie and TV appearances may be limited, but Locsin remains a popular dramatic actress of this generation. Who could forget the characters she has portrayed – from Lyka Ortega in “Lobo”, Lia Rodriguez in “Immortal”, and the iconic Monica Santiago-De Villa in “The Legal Wife” ? All of these roles left a mark in the hearts of TV viewers who have memorized some of her lines.
At present, Angel limits herself to one TV show a year. although there are some exceptions. Accepting roles left and right can be tiring, which is why the actress can’t always please fans who want to see her on screen daily.
Here’s a list of the shows she has done so far for both GMA 7 and ABS-CBN:
2002 – Click/Ang Iibigin ay Ikaw
2003 – Ang Iibigin ay Ikaw Pa Rin/Twin Hearts/Love to Love
2004 – All Together Now/SOP/ Magpakailanman/Mulawin
2005 – Initial D Fourth Stage/Darna
2006 – Majika/Tokyuu Shirei Solbrain
It looks like Angel was really working hard back then by accepting multiple shows in a year. In GMA 7 alone, she made 13 shows in four years.
2007 – ASAP/MMK
2008 – Lobo
2009 – Only You/MMK
2010 – Imortal/ MMK
