“Oo nga e kakaloka hayaan na at least di naman kami nanggaya ok na yun,” Ai Ai delas Alas said to her Instagram follower when the latter commented that “ASAP” is imitating the comedy queen’s “Sunday PinaSaya”. (“Yeah, as long as we didn’t imitate their format, we’re good.”)
A lot of viewers have noticed that the Sunday’s longest running musical variety show “ASAP” deviates from it’s original format that now seems to be a game show due to its new segment Pa Nae Nae Boys vs. Pabebe Girls.
Aside from the showdown, the Kapamilya program tried to satisfy viewers with skits topbilled by Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano.
It’s rival program, on the other hand, airs their segments–“Bongga si Dai,” “Chef Boy Next Door,” “Judge MD” and many more.
APT Entertainment, the co-producer of GMA the makers of Sunday Pinasaya, has been well-verse in making popular game shows in Eat Bulaga, where PinaSaya directors probably get its inspiration like the loud and funny antics.
In another photo shared online, the Kapuso comedienne said she is flattered that her show is being ‘copied’.
The same commenter said: “What can u say @msaiaidelasalas that ASAP is imitating your show? I was surprised when I switched the channel to ABS-CBN, there’s also comedy and drama skit.”
Aiai answered: “@ishavillacorte I’m flattered. It’s better to see you’re the one being imitated than they blame you for copying.”
Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery? Is ASAP’s 20 imitating Sunday PinaSaya? Or it’s just trying to welcome and try new format to satisfy its viewers?
