GMA 7 had high hopes for The Rich Man’s Daughter, thinking it would replicate the success of My Husband’s Lover. However, the unexpected pregnancy of Marian Rivera cemented the unlikely tandem of Glaiza de Castro and Rhian Ramos.
While both are skilled actresses, they don’t have the chemistry that revolves around a lesbian relationship that needs to be portrayed in the series. Rivera would have added charm and appeal to the interesting plot, considering that she and Glaiza de Castro topped prime time when they were pitted against each other in Temptation of Wife in 2013.
Days before The Rich Man’s Daughter’s season finale, the show was also summoned by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) for strong language in one of the scenes between Glaiza and Katrina Halili.
Earlier, Pangako Sa’yo was flagged by the MTRCB f0r using a word pertaining to libido. In the case of The Rich Man’s Daughter, it had something to do with the word “kabit” which was deemed unsuitable for younger audiences. Here’s what the MTRCB said:
Even though the series isn’t as popular as the Tom Rodriguez – Dennis Trillo starrer, The Rich Man’s Daughter definitely opened the eyes of viewers to the world of lesbians. This is something that the cast and crew should be proud of.
