Even if he failed to win the first season of ‘The Voice Kids’ and was named first runner-up, Darren Espanto still feels like a champion as he is now considered to be one of the country’s most sought-after singer-performers.
In the past year, Espanto has had major successes in his singing career. At 14, he released a solo album that has recently been certified Gold and even bagged numerous awards at the ASAP Pop Viewers’ Choice Awards, Myx Music Awards, and being named Promising Male Performer at the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation Box-Office Entertainment Awards.
Despite these, he also wants to try his hand at acting, just like his fellow “The Voice Kids” alumni Lyca Gairanod and Juan Karlos Labajo.
“I’d love to try acting. I’ve always been fascinated by actors when I watch a teleserye, and I’d be interested in doing an acting project,” he said.
As he navigates his path in the entertainment and recording industry, Darren is thankful to his loyal fans who have his back.
“I’m happy because I can see their dedication and support for me. I never thought that after ‘The Voice Kids’ I would find a new family, the Darrenatics,” shared Darren.
And to thank them, Darren showcased his talents in his major concert at the MOA Arena last Friday. He is the younger artist to ever headline a concert at the venue.
Meanwhile, he also offered advice to kiddie hopefuls who will soon compete in the new season of singing tilt: “Just be who you are. Always stay humble, because without humility you won’t get as far.”
Don’t miss the premiere of ‘The Voice Kids’ Season 2 on June 6 on ABS-CBN.
