The coming out of Bruce Jenner as “Caitlyn” has earned different perspective from different people and yes, it was the talk of the town gathering millions of tweets that day. But do not forget, that before “Caitlyn” we have our very own BB Gandanghari, who happened to go through the same different reactions from the public when he decided to come out. According to BB, coming out “It is really hard.” She mentioned that Caitlyn will have to go through a lot of difficult times but then it is better quoting that, “At least magiging happy siya for the next ten years, I hope,”.
BB even mentioned that, “I know what she is going through or what she will be going through in the next six years of her life.” Because BB has gone through the same ordeals on her own. BB said that negative reactions from people are natural since Caitlyn came out a little bit later in her life, yet BB emphasized that, “But it’s always better late than never.” BB firmly believes that is much better to show the world her real self.
BB is aware that the journey of a transgender person from coming out towards living a normal life is not an easy one, but he also believes that Caitlyn is ready for it and she hopes that Caitlyn is emotionally ready and strong to face head on whatever challenges there is, even discrimination.
Caitlyn openly express herself as a lesbian transgender while BB vehemently said that she is not a lesbian and that she definitely prefer men. With respect to the issue of sexual-realignment, BB stands firm that she wants to keep her respect for herself and her body. She knew that although she has gone though transition in her life, respect is very vital and that is her “guiding light” as she uttered.
