We want more! Three words, people say after they witness the PRISMATIC WORLD TOUR of American singer KATY PERRY. From the stage design to costumes to props, thousand of Filipinos became Katy Cats (as what she calls her fans) in an instant. Katy Perry was the first solo performer who holds a concert in Philippine Arena. And she didn’t fail to fill the thirty-thousand seats, biggest show ever in Prismatic World Tour history. People didn’t mind they spent three hours traveling, including traffic, just to witness the most fashionable and eccentric show ever. And talking about history, the day she holds the concert, May 7, was actually the anniversary of the tour. A year ago, they started the show in the United Kingdom. After one-hundred thirty-eight shows (138), they are in Manila. Katy said,
“We feel really proud tonight, actually. It may be the biggest show we’ve ever played for the Prismatic tour. It’s been a long way, and we are so grateful. Hopefully you leave here feeling uplifted, hopefully you have a little more joy than you had when you came. It hasn’t always been easy. Look, we’ve never canceled a show. Some of us have been sick. Some of us have been tired. Some of us have been lonely. Some of us have been homesick. But we know how important it is to show up.”

And to prove her right, people started to party like crazy, especially when Katy opens the show with ‘Roar’, which is kind of special to Filipinos because one of the Philippine’s most beautiful spots, Taal volcano, was featured on her music video. High-energy combined with her peculiar personality, one thing audiences loved about was her constant costume and wig changes. Almost everyone was in awe whenever she went on stage with another colorful and trendy look. Even from far above, you will easily spot her. In addition to this, inflatable props were around the stage.
The show is not complete without the artist learning Filipino words. On that day, one lucky Katy Cat in a fish suit named Marty was lucky to share the stage with Katy Perry. At first, Marty looks like he was about to cry, but when Katy embraced her and gave him her bottle of water, loud cheers echoed all throughout the Arena. “Now Marty, before we get into this, I need you teach me some words in your language, okay? How do you say ‘Hello’ in your language?” Katy said. Marty said it is just ‘Hello’ and Katy blurted out (with eyes wide-open), “I traveled all the way to Manila and it is just ‘Hello!?” She then asked what is the Filipino word for ‘Thank You’. Believe me, Katy was so cute when she repeatedly said ‘Salamat’ and ‘Salami’ so she won’t forget the word. Upon learning ‘I love you’ in Filipino, she then pointed to everyone and said ‘Mahal Kita’. As a reward to Marty, the superstar let him have ‘selfie’ with her.
Encore may be the saddest part of the show, but Katy have a lot of surprises. She went on stage for the last time singing ‘Fireworks’ in iconic costume. Before the last stanza of the song, Katy whirled around and her costume manifested glow like a real firework. “Baby, you’re a firework, Come on, let your colours burst Make ’em go, Aah, aah, aah You’re gonna leave ’em all in awe, awe, awe.” Congratulations Katy Perry!
