The longest running drama anthology in Asia, Maala-ala Mo Kaya, pays tribute to the 44 Special Action Force (SAF) commandos this Saturday. Televiewers will be able to see the struggles and difficulties that our SAF commandos endure. From the training to the battlefield (Mamasapano), where they lost their lives. It is an honor to ABS-CBN that SAF trusted the network to air the story behind the clash. And MMK will give a face to one of the heroes who died in the Mamasapano encounter.
The Prince of Philippine Independent Films, Coco Martin is chosen to portray the character of Police Senior Inspector Garry Erana, one of the elite members who died in the bloody clash. Together with Angel Locsin as Atty. Suzette Tucay, Garry’s fiancée. They will give life to the young couple’s love for each other and dreams for the future that tested by fate. MMK came out with the story when it get to their attention the two friends who died in the clash who were also side by side with the burial. They were the backup of the assault which killed Marwan, who sacrificed their life.
During the press con held at Star Cinema conference room last April 22, Coco Martin shared his lesson and experience in doing the project. When one of the bloggers asked him what he felt in doing the role, Coco answered, “Honestly po nung college ako, inaamin ko mataas ang tingin ko sa ka-pulisan. Sila (SAF) yung parating nasa likod. For security purpose. Napakadami nilang katangian na sobra kong hinahangaan.”
If Coco is not an actor, he said he only want to be three things: a boxer, policeman, and a cook. Iba eh.” Coco said. There is no hesitancy in Coco’s side to accept the role as well. It never occurred to him that it could be mix with politics. Coco added.
