“What are you going to do if your assistant suddenly became your boss?” It is the popular tag line of the latest offering of Star Cinema, “You’re My Boss” starring the box-office royalties Coco Martin and Toni Gonzaga. Under the direction of no other than Antoinette Jadaone (director of That Thing Called Tadhana). This is romantic-comedy movie that will surely make you kilig this Lenten season.
Coco Martin is actually a first timer in a romantic-comedy movie. We all knew him in doing heavy drama TV series and movies. He said, “Honestly sobrang nahirapan ako sa movie na ‘to. From heavy drama to light romance, nahirapan ako. Nafru-frustrate ako na parang hindi ko naiideliver ng tama yung sarili ko.” But he is thankful that Toni Gonzaga and director Antoinette have been patient in teaching him to let out the comic side of him.
When asked about the experience in doing the movie during the bloggers’ conference held at Ayala Fairview Terraces on March 28, Toni shared some tidbits. She said when she first accepted the role, she accepted it with open arms. She dropped all her walls for Coco to make the movie more effective. This is also the first time they worked together. She also shared that communication is important between actors and the director. This would be a good collaboration and group effort. That happened on the set of You’re My Boss.
It’s funny how Coco Martin accepted his speech lapses and grammar. He looks so genuine as a person because he is open to be criticized in able for him to learn from it. One good thing about this official kilig couple of the season is they backed up each other. Helping one another to bring out the funny side of themselves.
You’re My Boss is showing this coming April 4 in cinemas nationwide.
