“We are what we are and what we are in an illusion.” This is one of the famous lines of the only three-time winner for BEST PRODUCTION at the Tony Awards, La Cage Aux Folles. Adopted by Nine Works Theatrical and The Rockwell Club, La Cage brought out the interest of people to musical theater.
Featuring the versatile TV, movie and stage actor Michael De Mesa as Georges who manages a drag nightclub at Saint-Tropez and the multi-awarded theater actor and director, Audi Gemora as Albin who is a club’s star attraction Zaza. The story focuses between gay couple George and Albin and action arise when Geroge’s son Jean-Michel (Steve Silva) brings home his fiancee Anne Dindon (Missy Macuha-Elizalde and/or Joni Galeste) ultra-conservative family, Monsieur Edouard Dindon (Raul Montesa) and Madame Marie Dindon (Shiela Francisco).
It’s a touching tale of family, love and acceptance told through characters that will make you laugh, sigh, cry and want to hug your loved ones. With an extravagant stage design in dim lights, 3-D background and bell sounding as the curtains rise. It is an enchanted feeling of you trapped in a foreign world. Have been staged all over the world from Germany to Korea and Mexico to Australia, the Philippines is lucky enough to have this kind of Broadway. It will allow you to say Bravo!!! multiple times.
Adding to attraction is the row of beautiful cagelles, a cross-section performers, among which are JP Basco, Mara Celine Javier, Randi De Guzman, Carlos Deriada, Cheska Rodriguez, Dindo Divinagracia, Cheeno Macaraig, James Stacey and Rafa Siguion-Reyna.
