Atty. Raymond Fortun said in DZMM interview that Jolo was cleaning his government-issued gun, a .40 Glock pistol, when he accidentally fired and shot himself.
Cavite vice governor was rushed to the hospital after the shooting which occured at Jolo’s detained father house Sen. Bong Revilla, in Ayala Alabang on Saturday around 9am.
Jolo is now in stable condition at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Muntinlupa City and was able to retell what had happened to him.
As far as I can see, probably baka may ribs na tinamaan, other than that nag-dere deretso ang bala,
“Minor surgery lang para linisin ang wound at alisin ang dugong namuo sa katawan. Probably magkakaroon ng sutures para isarado ang wound. Other than that, the doctors are still of course monitoring the situation for the next 72 hours para pa ma-prevent ang infection.”
Did Jolo try to commit suicide?
Despite the release statement made by family spokesman Raymond Fortun about the accident, one report says the gunshot appeared to be a suicidal attempt.
Seeking information from unnamed source closed to the immediate family, Pep.ph reported that Jolo has been suffering from heightened depression, including the prosecutors’ request to move the senator to a regular prison cell following reorts that he slipped out of his cell to attend former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile’s 91st birthday party.
Sen. Revilla is currently detained at the PNP Custodial Center for graft and plunder case.
Older Revilla talent manager, Lolit Solis, said that Revilla family thanks Jolo’s girlfriend, Jodi Sta. Maria for staying at his bedside.
Bacoor Rep. Lani Mercado, retweeted Fortun’s official statement and thanked everyone who continues to pray for her son’s fast recovery.
