Somewhere in Brixton Street Kapitolyo, Pasig City lies an interesting Filipino Bar & Resto’ that captures not just the tummies of locals, but the expatriates as well.
Well, who hasn’t? LOCAVORE’s /’lok??vôr/ well-prepared and competitively-rated menu uses mostly organic ingredients grown locally in the Philippines, so expect a healthy diet to go with your gastronomic adventure. Accordingly, the resto’s name pertains to “One who eats goods grown locally whenever possible.”
It suggest art in it’s every table-execution, plus devouring (pardon for the term) those eye-candies in a sanitized, spacious and temperature-controlled environment. The premises suggests a native cool theme, yet with touches of foreign influences.
Just the other day, I chanced upon a Food-tasting and Review event here and I was extra-lucky to come here extra-hungry so I managed to confront well the sinfully-delighted dishes right before my wondering eyes, – and wandering tummy one after another.
A street-smart start
For a starter, we were served with Singkamas, Mangga & Bagoong along with a plateful combo of pop street-food starring fish-balls, squid-balls, kikiam @ yes, the so-called “kwek-kwek” with choices of sweet, sour and spicy sauces.
Expect these lip-smacking snack to be equally addicting like the ones we enjoy in the street, yet here, guaranteed clean (and safe).
Sizzled to Perfection
What’s with the sizzlings.. sinigang, Bulalo, Lechon and Oyster have in common beside being tender & juicy?
Well the pictures speaks for itself. But to achieve it’s fullest potential, better to try it with your favorite & home-made liquor available in the resto’.
From dusk till dawn, the haven becomes a young-professional lounge, with the cool music of today serenading from the background. But the portal’s tailor-made for the whole family.
To continue, Ginataang Kaldereta with beef short-ribs, sauteed French beans, marble potato, stewed tomato among others were hand-in to us, Whew! I fell in love with the cheese and garlic on it that blends with the coco milk (gata). So flavorful!
The omellete egg give you a unique hotel-like experience.
A Sweet way to end the venture
We seemed to can’t move our body anymore, esp. a food-blogging buddy on the side 🙂 but the food porn isn’t done yet and our trip down Locavore would be incomplete without the signature dessert, the best-selling tortang mangga pie w/ an added sweet dulce de leche. Veggie and fruit in one, a mix of semi-sour and sweet is something so mystifying, but friendly to the tongue. And I should warn, it’s big, but hearty. Share it to someone you love.
Thanks Locavore owners & the PR Team
Glad to rub plates here unplanned with a good friend from the biz’, Mr. ManHunt International 2013 June Macaset w/ his Martial Art expert bro.
