ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of maestro Gerard Salonga, wowed the country’s most respected entertainment media as they played medleys of songs at the ABS-CBN’s Media Christmas Concert Party held last Monday (Dec 15) at the Dolphy Theater.
Arranged by ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra managing director Mickey Muñoz, the orchestra played Whitney Houston and Donna Summer’s hits, “The Christmas Song,” “Please Be Careful with My Heart,” and a medley of OPM hits.
The Dolphy Theater was filled with more cheers as some entertainment editors, writer, and photographers were tapped to perform with maestro Gerard’s orchestra on stage. They were Nerisa Almo, Eugene Asis, Leo Bukas, Letty Celi, Alex Datu, Reyma Deveza, Allan Diones, Glaiza Jarloc, Pilar Mateo, Noel Orsal, Allan Policarpio, Rey Pumaloy, Dominic Rea, Veronica Samio, and Emmie Velarde. The media performers were coached and guided in singing by Annie Quintos of The Company. They looked like real divas and performers that night through the styling of Headway Salon.
Judy Ann Santos also joined the celebration and gave the attendees a taste of what it’s like to be a contestant of her game show “Bet On Your Baby.” Blessie Cirera, Alex Datu, Ver Paulino, and Josephine Bonsol were luckily drawn to play as a team in “Bet On Your Baby’s” “Basagin Ang Baboy” round and took home the grand prize of P20,000.
Also presented in the concert party were teasers of ABS-CBN’s new offerings in 2015. Some of the Kapamilya shows to watch out for next year are “Inday Bote” starring Alex Gonzaga with Matteo Guidicelli and Kean Cipriano; “Flor de Liza” starring Jolina Magdangal, Marvin Agustin, and Desiree del Valle; “Oh My G” starring Janella Salvador and “Pangako Sa’yo” starring Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo with Jodi Sta.Maria and Angelica Panganiban.
The event also featured MOR 101.9’s “Ready Get MORe” mini games presented by DJ Toni, DJ Charlie, and DJ Chikki Boomboom, and “Failon Ngayon sa DZMM’s” “Ang Mahiwagang Blackbox,” where contestants won cash prizes, t-shirts, and Digital TV boxes.
“Mutya ng Masa” Doris Bigornia also dropped by to join the event hosts Ogie Diaz and MJ Felipe in raffling of prizes and exchange of banters.
Glen Sibonga and Mildred Bacud were voted as the Male and Female Stars of the Night, while veteran journalist Ethel Ramos was named Darling of the Media after receiving the most number of thank you cards from her colleagues.
ABS-CBN broadcast head Cory Vidanes and TV production head Laurenti Dyogi welcomed and thanked the entertainment press and bloggers for their continued support for the Kapamilya programs and artists.
ABS-CBN raffled away over P250,000 of cash prizes, appliances, and gadgets for the event, which was capped off with the singing the network’s 2014 Christmas station ID theme song “Thank You, Ang Babait Ninyo” by the journalists and ABS-CBN staff with the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra.
