ABS-CBNnews.com, the news digital arm of ABS-CBN, recently won the Coca-Cola Environmental Story of the Year at the Asian Environmental Journalism Awards (AEJA) for its multimedia report titled “A Tale of Three Disasters.”
“A Tale of Three Disasters” showed the impact of major tropical storms Sendong, Pablo, and Yolanda that ravaged different parts of the Philippines.
ABS-CBNnews.com deputy editor for multimedia Fernando “Jun” Sepe Jr. personally accepted the award at a ceremony held at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel in Singapore.
Organized by the Singapore Environment Council, the AEJA is held annually to recognize and reward excellence in environmental journalism at all levels of society in Asia.
On the other hand, the special coverage of “TV Patrol Weekend” on the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda was one of the four nominees at the 2014 International Emmy Awards for News and Current Affairs in news category.
ABS-CBN Integrated News and Current Affairs head Regina “Ging” Reyes and “TV Patrol” anchor Ted Failon recently flew to New York, USA to personally receive the medals. The International Emmy Awards for News and Current Affairs is widely considered to be the most prestigious award in television journalism.
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN’s digital campaigns bagged four accolades at the Internet Mobile and Marketing Association of the Philippines’ (IMMAP) 2014 Boomerang Awards, which aims to recognize the best digital programs in the country.
ABS-CBN’s passenger safety app “PasaHero” won the Gold Boomerang in the programs category and the Black Boomerang, a special award from Smart Communications for Best in Mobile, while “Pinoy Big Brother All In Online Bahay ni Kuya” won a Silver Boomerang in the effectivity category and a Bronze Boomerang in the campaigns category.
