“The Voice of the Philippines” runner-up Klarisse de Guzman has finally been able to launch her self-titled debut album in front of the bloggers in a blog-con at MCA Music Office in Ortigas on August 13. Klarisse is now living the dream, finally reaping the fruits of her contest days.
She’s a champion of her own craft. Klarisse captured the hearts of many when she placed runner-up to “The Voice of the Philippines” grand champion Mitoy Yonting. Coming from coach Sarah Geronimo’s team, Klarisse (also a former competitor of Sarah) was well-applauded for her renditions of I Can’t Make You Love Me, To Love Somebody, The Climb and the original song Slowly during the show.
On her debut album, Klarisse was very hands-on in this dream project. In fact, there was a time when she personally went to the sound engineer just to give her own inputs and ideas. Aside from the songs she sang during “The Voice of the Philippines Season 1” (“I Can’t Make You Love Me”, “To Love Somebody”, “The Climb” and “Slowly”) and the original theme for the teleserye Mirabella (“Sabihin Mo Sa Akin”), she also added 3 original songs in the mix.
Her debut single, “Di Kayang Pilitin”- written by Klarisse herself, is way different from her usual contest pieces – less birit, and more soul. “Gusto ko po talagang maging singer-songwriter tapos medyo soul ang music ko.” She has been pretty hands on with the production of her album as well.
Also included are songs composed by Arnee Mendaros (“Sayang Naman”) and Toto Sorioso (“Magpakailanman”). The album likewise features her versions of hit love songs (Everything I Do) I Do It For You (Bryan Adams) and Stuck On You (Lionel Richie).
After releasing her self-titled debut album, Klarisse is ready to be on the concert stage with ‘The Voice of Klarisse De Guzman: Live In Concert’ on Aug. 29, 8 p.m. at Teatrino, Promenade Mall.
