Although it’s his first time to perform with the group, Andrew has apparently been visiting the Philippines for the past 22 years, and is proud to say that he has visited more of the country than most Filipinos! A regular visitor, Andrew Simon notes that Palawan is the next destination on his list. He says that our natural surroundings and hospitable personality makes our country a very desirable destination.
When asked what his favorite Filipino dish was, he was quick to say halo-halo, and some variations in the classic Adobo recipe. Andrew, more than being excited about his performance, looks forward to exchanging cultures with the Filipinos as he hopes to give us an authentic performance, mentioning how he shares the same heritage with Aaron Copland, one of the composers included in the program.
The program includes Copland’s Clarinet Concerto, Weber’s Concertino in E-flat, Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie, Baerman’s Adagio for Clarinet and Orchestra, and a few more pieces prepared by the orchestra.
The second feature concert of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra this year, this coming performance fuels the momentum for the orchestra’s signature brand, “Spotlight Series”, a chain of concerts that feature masterpieces from world-renowned composers, performers and music masters.
