Rodrigo Cornejo, a former GMA Network executive and the grandfather of Deniece Cornejo, the woman who accused Vhong Navarro of rape, has surfaced and broke his silence. He said in an interview aired on ABS-CBN’s showbiz talkshow “Buzz Ng Bayan” that he came out publicly to let people know who his grandniece really is, adding that he wanted to speak because he was hurt with all the negative remarks and criticisms about Deniece. He added that Deniece is a lovely and beautiful person.
The businessman admitted that he believes Deniece’s claims because he personally asked her about the incident, as well as her relationship with businessman Cedric Lee. Deniece told him her accusation against Navarro is true. She has charged the actor-host with rape. The older Cornejo said he “chose to believe” her. Deniece’s father, he said, currently works as a seaman but his grandniece isn’t dependent on him. Rod said Deniece is working hard to earn for a living.
