Meanwhile, “The Voice of the Philippines” grand winner Mitoy Yonting says he will not waste the support of those who voted for him to win in the singing-reality show by spending his P2 million cash prize wisely. He refers to the prize as the “people’s investment.”
“It’s important to spend the money wisely because the people gave it. My wife and I are still planning for the money,” he said.
He also talks about the lessons he learned from joining the singing contest. The veteran band vocalist admits that in reality shows, the back stories of the contestants sometimes charm the audience, but he claims that a sad life story is not always a ticket to winning a talent competition.
“As what Coach Lea Salonga told us, it’s not necessary. ’In this contest, in our team, you don’t have to share your sad stories and life problems to please and win the sympathy of the people,’” he added.
