Involvement of some local officials in the continuous operation of illegal resorts in Boracay

Broadcast journalist Ted Failon probes the alleged involvement of some local officials in the continuous operation of illegal resorts in Boracay this Saturday (Ausust 3) in “Failon Ngayon.”

Last year, the program identified the resorts that did not have proper documents and permits to operate in Boracay in one of its episodes that prompted some government agencies to launch a redevelopment plan for the famous island.

As part of the project, Crisostomo Aquino’s Boracay West Cove, one of the many illegal resorts, was scheduled to be demolished. “Failon Ngayon,” however, found out recently that Aquino and other businessmen have continued to put up resorts illegally.

Moreover, reports have surfaced that some of the resorts owned by local officials in Aklan violate environmental laws. Is this the reason the local government is taking so long to implement the Boracay redevelopment plan? Does it allow businessmen to exploit the paradise-like island of Boracay?

Meanwhile, Ted also looks into the story of a mother whose three-month-old child was kidnapped by an alleged talent scout, who promised to make the baby a commercial model. Tune in to the episode to find out how parents can protect their children from fake talent scouts.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is set to ban provincial buses on EDSA. Will the project improve the traffic in the metro or cause inconvenience to commuters?

Don’t miss the full report in “Failon Ngayon” this Saturday (August 3), 4:45 PM, after SOCO on ABS-CBN with a replay on ANC every Sunday, 2PM.
