Tomorrow (June 18) in “Pinoy True Stories: Engkwentro,” broadcast journalist Karen Davila probes the backyard piggery business of Erlinda and her husband that neighbors are complaining about because it emits a foul odor and produces waste that have allegedly made kids in the area sickly.
The residents are also griping about being forced to spend on medicines for their kids who used to be healthy but are now experiencing respiratory problems.
As a result, Erlinda’s neighbors are clamoring to have her piggery business closed down. Erlinda feels that the petition is unfair because her “babuyan” is only one of many in their community. The businesswoman insists that if her piggery closes down, the others must cease to operate also.
In this situation, whose welfare should prevail: the businesswoman trying to earn a living or the aggrieved neighbors? Will Erlinda be forced to close her piggery? Will the parties concerned be able to reach a compromise?
