Inspired by the success of the Barbecue Cook-Off that it organized last year, Food Magazine now directs its focus on Filipino food with the much-anticipated Adobo Cook-Off. Dubbed as the most flavorful event of the year, the Adobo Cook-Off aims to highlight our acknowledged national dish, celebrate its many versions and discover the most talented culinarians who can whip up the best one.
The contest is open to both amateurs and professionals. The amateur division is for non-professional cooks, chefs and individuals without a registered food, restaurant or catering business, while the professional division is for chefs, owners and current employees of a restaurant, catering or any form of food business.
To join, visit www.facebook/foodmag and like the page. Then click on the Adobo Cook-Off tab where the mechanics are also enumerated. Interested contestants must send a photo of their adobo dish to cookeatnow.promos@gmail.com. Deadline of submission of entries is on May 15.
From all the entries sent, Food Magazine will choose a number of finalists who will be asked to cook their adobo creations live at Mercato Centrale on June 25 at 3:00 PM. There are two categories for the amateur division: traditional and modern, and one category for the professional which is modern. There will be one winner per category who will receive cash, gift packs from Food Magazine and sponsors, plus one-month free rental at Mercato Centrale. Judges include Food Magazine editors, Lifestyle Network’s celebrity chefs, and acclaimed chefs and other food personalities.
