The terrorist attack, near the marathon’s finish line, triggered widespread screaming and chaos, shattered windows and barricades and sent smoke billowing into the air at Copley Square. The blasts were about 50 to 100 yards apart, officials said, on a stretch of the marathon course lined with spectators cheering runners through the final yards of a 26-mile, 385-yard endurance feat.
There are reports that 3 people have been killed, with others wounded. There are also many reports of secondary devices found. As is usually the case with a tragedy that captures the nation’s attention, I will offer that right now is a time to pray for those who are wounded or killed, for the families and friends who love them, and for the first responders who remain in harms way to treat the wounded and secure the city.
I just wanted to take a moment to express my profound sadness for the victims who died and their families, and also the victims who survived and who are fighting for their lives. My thoughts and prayers are with all.
