Coming from her successful portrayal in “Sabel” in 2010, Jackie in “Budoy” in 2011 and Yanie in the recently concluded “Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Paraiso,” Jessy will now take another challenge in her acting career and this time playing the role of Maria Mercedes Muñoz, popularized by Thalia.
The coveted role was previously offered to Andi Eigenmann but the project did not materialize after Andy got pregnant.
“Maria Mercedes” tells the story of a poor young girl tasked with taking care of her siblings by peddling lottery tickets in the streets.
Aired locally by ABS-CBN in 1996, “Maria Mercedes” sees Thalia as a street urchin whose life takes a turn when she agrees to marry an immensely rich man who is terminally ill.
To be directed by Chito Rono, this is going to be one of the highlights of Jessy’s career.
