Positiva are also celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2013, and what better way to kick off the party than by getting a number 1 with their first release of the year!
Originally (and fittingly) titled ‘Nicktim’, this startling collaboration between two of dance music’s finest has had fans salivating since the instrumental was first previewed on Pete Tong’s ‘Essential Selection’ show back in February 2012 following months of speculation. Pairing Avicii’s infectious melodic talents with Nicky Romero’s big, high-energy sound, the result is a bold progressive house anthem from two of dance music’s fastest rising stars. Having been picked up on a groundswell of support; it was given the all-important vocal treatment from Swedish singer NoonieBao. Over Christmas it went to No.1 on the Beatport chart. Its outrageously funny video followed soon after clocking up over 16 million views before hitting the top spot in the UK chart.
About Avicii – Hailed by Rolling Stone magazine as “one of the Princes of the contemporary renaissance of EDM”, Grammy-nominated Avicii – born Tim Bergling – is best known for his acclaimed live performances and for international mega-hit ‘Levels’. It conquered club charts worldwide, racked up over 50 million YouTube views, and was declared David Guetta’s “Tune of 2011” in DJ Mag. Following an intense and prolific touring schedule as well as the worldwide release of his summer smash hit ‘Silhouettes’ this year, the Swede soared to No.3 in the 2012 DJ Mag poll of the Top 100 DJs after just three years of performing. About Nicky Romero – Thus far, Nicky Romero’s last 12 months has been a year emblematic of a world’s top-tier DJ. He was the highest New Entry in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ poll (No.17). Aside from “Metropolis” – the anthemic collaboration with David Guetta under the newly established record label Jack Back – Nicky has released countless other dance floor juggernauts such as “Toulouse”, “Generation 303” and of course “Nicktim”. He set up his own imprint, Protocol Recordings which has already had three Beatport No. 1s. Unlike like many other producers, each of Romero’s releases reasserts the claim that he is here to stay.
