To worry that the world will end this Friday would be to misunderstand the ancient people whose calendar supposedly pinpoints the date as terminal. But archaeologists and scholars of Maya culture explain that the mystical date of 12.21.12 will not be the catalyst for apocalypse. The Maya’s long-form calendar will end, but not the world itself, which will simply enter a new period.
Anyways, there’s a circulating news that it the end of the world is postponed. We don’t know the real reason but according to this site, the Mayan Scholars made a mistake. The world is not going to end in December 2012. Instead, it’s going to end on September 3, 2015. There’s still three more years to live according to them.
Why, then, the current hysteria?
Some people just enjoy it. I am particularly amused by the idea that people are travelling to a place in France because they think it will be spared. I wonder how they think this will work, a charming, bijou, detached village wandering through space perhaps?
Every decade has its pessimists and depressed: these people don’t know that this doomsday hysteria has been going on and on and on for millennia. And for your information guys, there are about 175 failed predictions and counting (List of dates predicted for apocalyptic events).
I don’t believe in such predictions. It’s up to you if you want to. Everyone and everything has it’s end. But please… not now, not tomorrow…
