“We will be all out in asking them hard-hitting questions and will boldly reveal their secrets on air. The show will surely tackle all possible issues, regardless if it’s controversial or not, in a very light manner because we believe that you will get to know someone better once you see his/her non-serious side,” explained Anthony.
Manila Vice-Mayor Isko Moreno, who will run for re-election in 2013, will take the hot seat in the premiere telecast. The show will also feature in its upcoming episodes Jolo Revilla and Jay Lacson, rivals in the vice-governatorial seat in Cavite, as well as incumbent Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim.
The show’s weekly guests will not only get a taste of Anthony’s sharp questioning, but they will have to be ready to answer questions from the public in the segment called “Miron Akong Tanong.” The show will also allow viewers to get to know more about the guests’ personal lives, likes, and interests via the segment “Ang Hilig Mo,” reveal their secrets via the segment “Face-buking,” and know the story behind some of their controversial or funny photos in the segment “Ang-gulo Mo!”
Anthony is one of the most respected broadcast journalists and commentators in the industry today, who rose to prominence for his sharp and witty commentaries and breaking exclusive news stories as a radio anchor on DZMM.
His foray into broadcast journalist was accidental as he was aspiring to be an engineer. When his father suffered a mild stroke, he was left with no choice but to grab any job he could get to help his family. So when an opportunity to work at an AM station came, he grabbed it and worked his way to where he is now.
Anthony is currently one of the anchors of ABS-CBN’s investigative program “XXX” where he broke some of the biggest news stories in the country such as the exclusive expose that captured on video former Batangas Governor Antonio Leviste going in and out of his prison cell in New Bilibid. His expose on an abused grandmother who was detained by her own family inside a dog cage and suffered maltreatment created a buzz and sparked outrage among many Filipino viewers.
Anthony is also known for his exclusive news stories. One of his remarkable exclusive interviews was with former Maguindanao election supervisor Lintang Bedol, who exposed how former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo cheated in the elections.
And his feats have been recognized. In 2011, Anthony was awarded Outstanding Crime/Investigative Program Host FOR “XXX” by the Golden Screen Awards for TV and the Best Male Newscaster by the PMPC Star Awards for Television.
His works as a journalist may have earned him honors, but they have also brought him “death threats.” In a previous interview, Anthony said he thinks of his family’s safety, but in the end, his calling as a journalist compels him to serve the public as a journalist who fearlessly exposes the wrongdoings in society.
And his passion as a journalist can be seen in his body of works. Round the clock, Anthony is on air. In the mornings, he is heard on radio alongside Gerry Baja in DZMM’s “Dos Por Dos.” Then he goes on television for his “Punto por Punto” segment on “Umagang kay Ganda.” He returns on DZMM in the late afternoon edition of DZMM’s “Dos por Dos” and does studio 23’s primetime newscast “Iba-balita ni Anthony Taberna” on weeknights. Apart from “XXX,” he also co-anchors the program “Ako ang Simula” on ABS-CBN once a week.
Don’t miss the premiere of “ Mano Mano ni Anthony Taberna” this Sunday (Oct 21), 9:30 PM on Studio 23 with replays every Monday at 7 AM.
