She’s Only Sixteen takes pride in fusing the European “indie” feel to OPM, and this is evident in Dying To Meet You, which is available for download at the link.
The band, since their conception, has been named winner in various Battle of the Bands contests and has performed in the most influential indie music joints in the country – including their “base” Route 196 in Katipunan.
Dying To Meet You perfectly captures the band’s apparent musicality, dynamism, energy, youth, and influences.
Roberto adds, “we base our roots and influences from musicians like The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Phoenix, MGMT, Radiohead, among others. ”
When asked about the band, the members quip, “She’s Only Sixteen is a mix of rock, pop, dance, folk, ear-grabbing hooks, good taste, bad jokes, alcohol, cigarettes, coffee, debauchery, kalandian, deep commentary on love and life, and a load of class.”
She’s Only Sixteen will be launching their self-titled EP, which includes Dying To Meet You and three other songs plus an acoustic version of the debut single, this September 28, 8 p.m., Route 196.
In an interview with Status Magazine, bassist Anjo described his group as, “we are all basically a bunch of kids having a good time – nothing more complicated than that.”
