“To be hospitalized is not a choice for most poor Filipinos. Besides being sick, they have to worry about buying medicine and paying hospital bills,” said Bernadette.
Henry Hilab, 52, is just one of the millions of Filipinos who can’t manage to have his disease treated due to poverty. His condition, which was diagnosed 16 years ago, continues to worsen because of lack of health insurance and access to medical care.
